Conversations from the Yellow Chair Vlog 002 Part 1 HOW TO CHOOSE A THERAPIST

Updated: Apr 21

Welcome to Conversations from the Yellow Chair! This video is part 1 of a 3 part series- How to Choose a Therapist with host, Andrea Bryk (owner-director Waves of Harmony) and Greg Roberts (PhD, owner-director Grief and Trauma Support).

This conversation as a fireside chat, touches on certain 'clues' that might point to gaining benefit from therapy. The talk delves into a hierarchy of managing things in life through self-regulation, using resources readily available, or tuning into 1:1 support to consider if or when therapy might be suitable for you. The discussion has a conversational flow with points to generate questions and reflection about what might be right for you.

We describe some things that you might be thinking or feeling, or hearing from other people around you, that can be indicators that therapy would be beneficial. For example, what kinds of things might be suggesting therapy would be helpful? Are you feeling like it would be nice to move from surviving to thriving? Dealing with issues in your relationships? Questioning your decisions? Overcoming a difficult time or lost in the process of grief and loss? Some conversation is devoted to unpacking the stigma associated with seeking or receiving therapy and some of the barriers to signing up for therapy.

The purpose of these conversations is to generate open and constructive discussion about holistic therapy with the wider community. We speak openly about topics relevant at the time of recording. We look forward to your support by engaging in comments and sharing! Enjoy~
